FEEDING YOURSELF
Successful Gardening with the Big Five

Gardening, like cooking, is easy if you follow some basic guidelines and keep it simple.  This site is offered to help beginners in need of food to garden successfully and enjoy large crops.

WHAT ARE THE BIG FIVE?

I have selected five vegetables that I've planted in a variety of sites resulting in big crops with relative ease for the gardener.
These crops have high nutrient content and can be stored, frozen, or canned easily.  They are:

SWISS CHARD
BUSH BEANS
TOMATOES
KALE
BUTTERNUT SQUASH

WHAT DO PLANTS WANT?

Plants, like people, have certain basic needs.  Vegetable plants need the following, although not necessarily in the same amounts:
SPACE
FOOD
SUN
WATER
HEALTH

In the following paragraphs I'll help you fulfill these needs for your plants.
